Our Story

The Rockport Dive Station was originally a private beach resort owned by the Dela Rosa clan from Taal, Batangas since the 1970's. The cove, located at Sitio Balite in the town of San Luis in the province of Batangas was a sleepy and quiet area whose primary source of livelihood is fishing and minimal farming. The initial trade utilized by the family in developing the area was quarrying on the adjacent hillside and the quarried rock was used in several critical road and bridge works in the province of Batangas. The endeavor employed several barrio fisher folks within the area. The resort was made available commercially only on selected weekends during the summer season to select guests and family friends.

In 1996, recreational diving as a sport started picking up and some members of the family got certified. The resort later became the frequent venue for the weekend trips along with other divers associated with the family. In April 1998, the idea of transforming the resort into a commercial dive station turned out, after taking into consideration the strategic location of the resort to almost two dozen popular diving spots in Southern Luzon. From the dive station, the diving enthusiast can take a peek at some of the majestic aquatic resources in the region as far as Mindoro and Northern tip of Palawan. The dive station is also the first fully integrated dive and resort outside of the traditional dive launch points in the province such as Anilao and Nasugbu.

With the help of family friends who share the same interest and with the blessings of Ms. Vilma Dela Rosa, the Rockport Dive station was finally established and developed. From a private and exclusive beach resort, the new development scheme incorporated various expansion projects and the introduction of diving & training facilities. The people who took charge of these improvements were Ardie Darvin and Vilma Dela Rosa.

The resort provided income generating opportunities to the fisherfolks living nearby who lost their jobs when the quarry closed down and when fishing was no longer a lucrative trade. The dive station is currently the hive of various improvements and development in the once sleepy town of San Luis.

Rockport Dive Resort formally opened its doors to the public on March 1, 1998 and has since then carved a niche in water sport enthusiasts specially divers. At present, the Rockport Dive Station is now one of the most popular Dive Resorts along with the established resorts in Anilao, remarkably, barely a year start of operations.
